Buenafe, and local police conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bacubac, Basey, Samar that led in the arrest of the following suspects identified as: Pol Wences Medina y Beltran alias Pewee; (Drug Den Maintainer) Paul Jacob Medina y Asuncion Jr., Philip Medina y Asuncion, Chuckie Regala Lebrilla, Kristine Ciata Baclayo The secluded beach house of the Medinas where the buy-bust operation was conducted served as a drug den to their shabu and marijuana patrons. Seized from the suspects during the buy-bust operation were methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing 16.3801 grams, with an estimated market value of Php111,384.68, two mobile phones, several drug paraphernalia, and the buy-bust money. A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, was filed against the suspects. The information emanated from a Confidential Informant (CI) regarding the illegal drug activities of brothers alias Jacob and Philip Medina, and cohorts, who are actively selling shabu and marijuana in the municipality of Basey, and nearby municipalities. On that ground and after evaluation of the information, PDEA Regional Office VIII planned for the buy-bust operation set thru the assigned Agent poseur-buyer for the drug transaction. Upon arrival on the agreed time and place of transaction at around 6:00 PM of October 13, 2020, a buy-bust operation was successfully conducted that led in the arrest of the suspects, and dismantling of the drug den that turned-out to be maintained by Pol Wences alias Pewee, eldest paternal brother of Jacob and Philip, the reported drug dealers. During the test buys, the modus operandi, the suspects send two different and separate couriers, one who delivers the shabu, and the other receives the payment, using motorcycles as a means of transportation. The Medinas disclosed that they use their beach house in Barangay Bacubac as front venue for their friends and acquaintances to play mobile legends online game, but as a place to have pot sessions. Further, the suspects revealed the identity of the source of their supply of illegal drugs, and informed that he serves as SK Chairman in Sta. Rita, a neighboring municipality of Basey. Upon learning of the process of drug transactions made by the suspects, PDEA ROVIII continue the investigation on the identity of the supplier, and the sources of shabu for the neutralization of their drug dealings.
