Today we're taking a look at the Inno Shadow 16 on our 2016 Toyota RAV4. This is gonna be a pretty solid roofbox if you're looking to get some stuff on the roof protected. Sometimes baskets are a really nice option if you've got taller gear, but if you've got more sensitive items, this is a really nice option to keep it out of the elements when you're going down the road. I personally, when I travel with my family, I always have a roofbox on my roof. It just frees up some space in the back of the car. I'm not one to like see stuff in the back, in the back in the rear view mirror. I want full visibility. So I like to get as much stuff on the roof as possible, leave a little bit more room in the back of the car. Now this one clearly has been used. So this one gets borrowed here @etrailer.com quite a bit. It's a decent size. It's not the biggest one that we offer. I think this one kind of shines more in maybe just one or two people going, or if you're looking to carry some longer items, maybe some golf clubs, but roofboxes for me, I think that they do a really nice job with skis and snowboards. Now, when it comes to skis and snowboards, one thing to keep in mind, I've fallen victim to this. If you've got a shorter roofbox, you want something that's gonna be long enough to carry skis. I'm taller. My skis are longer, but even someone that is maybe a little bit more advanced, they may have taller skis or a snowboard as well. So, this is only going to accommodate skis and snowboards up to 182 centimeters. So keep that in mind if that's what you're looking to carry this for. So if you've got something that's longer than that, maybe look for something more like the Alpine box from Thule, but for most people, this is still gonna work out well for skis in the snowboards. So gonna be able to fit multiple pairs in there, and be able to take all your friends and family with you. Everybody that can fit in the RAV4. I have it partially installed, but before that, I do wanna show something off. So the nice thing you can see here, is with the roofrack we have installed, you can move this box back and forth to kind of be further up, further back. And I have it set a little further up so I can access my hatch. So what good is having all of your gear on your roof, and having all this space in the back, if you can't access the back of your vehicle So you can see here, I've got full access to the hatch with the roofbox on. And I can get taller stuff like coolers, or larger suitcases. That's the one thing with the boxes, is when you start getting the larger suitcases, usually those are kind of harder to get up there, but they can't really close those down. But let's get up there and let's take a closer look at it. So with it in the unlocked position, we can push that button right there to release it. But before we get that, we'll get that locked in place. Just wanna show the button does not work when it's unlocked like that, or when it's locked, excuse me. So we'll get that open there. And you saw that rise up, 'cause I don't have this fully installed. I'm still missing one of the clips. I wanna show you how that works, but I wanna show you real quick, how wide this opens up. So this is a pretty decent rule. If you can't fit it in this opening, you're not gonna be able to close the box with it. So if it's something larger than that, keep that in mind. Now another thing is, this opens up pretty good up here but it gets more narrow in the back, or in the front. It also does the same thing in the back. So just keep that in mind whenever we're looking at what will fit in here, but from the top of this lip, we're looking at, let's see, about 14 inches, so pretty good space there. Not the most, but pretty good space there to get stuff in and out. So now we can take a closer look at how this attaches. Now we can take this clamp here, and you can see how I have it, feeds through there, but I'm gonna take it up from underneath, and we can get that set in place. So that locks in place. And then I'm gonna hold it from underneath, and use this knob here. You can see my hands are getting pretty dirty, 'cause this has been definitely used in the winter. It's got a lot of kind of road grime on it. So it's a good example as to why you're protecting your stuff. All that stuff would be getting thrown up on all your gear if you used a roof basket. Now roof
