Introduction: The Rafale is a twin-jet combat aircraft capable of operating from an aircraft carrier as well as from a land base. Completely versatile, the Rafale can perform all the missions devolved to combat aviation: air superiority and defense, ground support, deep strike, reconnaissance, anti-ship strike, nuclear deterrence. The Rafale entered service with the French Navy in 2004 and the French Air Force in 2006. It has proven itself in combat in Afghanistan, Libya, Mali, Iraq and Syria, totaling more than 30,000 flight hours in operation. The Rafale has been ordered by Egypt, Qatar and India. THE M88 - A NEW GENERATION ENGINE Safran Aircraft Engines' M88-2 is a new generation bypass engine that offers both an efficient weight-to-thrust ratio, great ease of maintenance, excellent reliability and low running costs. It incorporates cutting-edge technologies: bladed discs, non-polluting combustion chamber, single-crystal HP turbine blades, ceramic coatings and composite materials.
