St. Albert RCMP Constable M.J. Burrows released a statement on Thursday June 24, 2021 regarding the alleged hate-motivated attack on two Muslim women wearing hijabs. The two sisters were walking on a footpath near Alderwood Park in St. Albert, Alberta at approximately 12:30pm on Wednesday June 23, 2021. A knife-wielding male knocked one of the sisters unconscious, then threw the other woman to the ground and pressed a knife against her throat, while uttering racial slurs. The suspect, a male in his 50’s, 6 feet tall and wearing a red bandana-style face mask with graffiti on it, is still at large.
