Give yourself permission to be your authentic self. I know this seems almost silly right? Why do you need to permit yourself to do anything? It seems like a ridiculous thought but perhaps it isn’t ridiculous at all. Take a deeper look. For example, I used to restrict myself from dancing, imagine! I used to tell myself I couldn't dance, I shouldn’t dance, and people would judge me, and laugh at me so I told myself dancing was not something I engaged in, even though I really liked doing it. Singing was another thing, absolutely no singing in public. I restricted so many things in my life because I felt inadequate in one way or another. Another thing I never permitted myself to do was to relax. I overachieved everywhere I went. As a child, I had a hard time permitting myself to try new things because being a newbie at something was uncomfortable for me. So I missed out on fun things because I let fear talk me into restricting myself. I also didn’t permit myself to celebrate or be excited about things because one time someone made fun of me for being excited. So I stopped being excited out of fear of ridicule. This is I care about your podcast and I am Juliana Jay and today we are talking about letting yourself live into your true nature through the simple act of giving yourself the permission to be yourself. We will discuss the difference between permission and discipline, how to permit yourself, what things you might be restricting yourself in, and why you are doing so. We will also discuss how to spot yourself being restrictive and how to pivot away to a place of denying permission to yourself.
