Thekua are generally made as prasad (devotional offering) for chhath puja, flavoured with coconut, fennel seeds and cardamom, these rustic and eggless Indian cookies are only mildly sweet.Traditionally they are deep fried. You could use a fork/toothpick to make patterns. These cookies are not only easy to make , they are also a delicious accompaniment to chai.
Ingredients:
Atta/wheat flour-2 cups
Ghee- 2 tbsp
Milk -3/4 cup
Elaichi powder-1/2 tsp
Saunf/ fennel seeds-1/2 tbsp
Grated coconut-1/4 cup
Kishmish/ raisins-2 tbsp
Powdered sugar- 3/4 cup
Oil for deep frying
