@brandonm605211 months ago Talking to a local farmer here near Lincoln, NE yesterday if we don’t get some substantial rain the predicted storm tonight/Saturday we will have irreversible damage. .20-.40 just won’t cut it. An inch may trick the crops into life ... 4

@edwinschaefer934711 months ago Our beans were planted May 10th and are only3 to 6 inches tall. It's going to take more than an inch to even make a difference a little over a week and we are in July. I hope that they aren't stunned and will grow with some rain ... 2

@michaelleffler521911 months ago Pricing in weather related predictions that haven't happened, and will have little to no effect on crop condition outcomes, by those who trade contracts and have never set foot on a farm or ranch is both a little nonsensical and entertaining for the thick skinned. Unfortunately, it's the world we live in.
That being said, you guys give great hands-on, and a times, colorful commentary that is more often than not spot on. Thanks for what you do and have a great weekend.

@darrellwilliams599511 months ago We are at the tail end of our rainy season, historically rains taper off from now on, and what storms you get are just damaging. If that's all been backed up and we get rains it will be cooler weather pattern that won't yield growth. I believe a lot of damage is already built-in to the plants. ... 1

@PrairieRifle11 months ago Lol. Well they keep predicting 50 to 70%+ chance of rain where I farm... still waiting for that rain. 3

@russengelmeyer61911 months ago Why does everybody want it to rain? I would rather harvest one bushel for 7 million. Instead of harvest a million bushels for $3. I will make really good money with the 1st one and that's the 2nd 1. 3

@don66hotrod9411 months ago If we don't get rain this weekend we will be hurt badly. Wheat and oats are a disaster, no second crop hay, corn and beans withering. Too dry to book in good prices. NE WI. 2

@teamna111 months ago If we don’t get rain in east central Nebraska tonight/tomorrow- we will be in a dire situation regarding dryland crops. (Meaning irreversible damage to the corn crop) 2

@denniskurtz142811 months ago Once you got dead tissue on the plants there is no coming back. It’s hurt even if the got rain. I’ve seen this multiple years. Good luck everyone 1

@teamna111 months ago P.S. We had ZERO subsoil moisture going into spring in east central Nebraska. 2

@debi529211 months ago Western Iowa would need 4 to 6" of rain to make a significant difference IMHO. An inch last weekend has been used up. Sub soil is dry. Walnut trees are aborting their nuts, some
thing we have not seen before. We are coming into maximum water use by the crop, and my feeling is that we will have a very short for us crop in the end.
It will be interesting to see if we run out of old crop before the new one is in. I believe that yet again USDA overstated last year's crop. Basis will tell that story.

@davezalinko135411 months ago Here in Western Canada and inch or two would pull markets back considerably. We could use an inch, but not hurting anything yet.
Have had cool temps, so has helped conserve moisture.
